Pippa Rai is a Victorian author and creator who has always believed that wonder belongs in everyday life. When her grandchildren were born, she chose the name “Pippa” over Grandma — a name that captured her playful spirit so perfectly that her family adopted it, and it later became her pen name.

Her Fairies Downunder children’s book series was born in the fairy garden she lovingly built in her own backyard — tiny illuminated houses that transformed her garden into an enchanted world after dark. The stories that grew from that space blend Australia’s unique wildlife and landscapes with whimsical fairies and themes of courage, friendship, and love for the natural world.

Alongside her books, Pippa creates handcrafted objects inspired by nature and quiet magic.
